Gruner Group privacy policy

1. Gruner Group privacy policy

Thank you for visiting the website of the Gruner Group and its group companies (hereinafter Gruner AG), for contacting us by e-mail or for your interest in our services such as the newsletter or other offerings.
The sensitive handling of personal data is a central aspect of users as digitization progresses. Gruner AG takes this concern to heart, which is why Gruner AG has taken the necessary steps to comply with the data protection laws locally, regionally and internationally, especially with the amendment of the new General Data Protection Regulation in the EU as of 25 May 2018.

The Gruner AG website will collect, process and protect personal data about you in accordance with this policy and the applicable legal provisions. This policy applies to the personal information (as defined below) that Gruner AG collects through online resources and communication tools such as the website, e-mail and other online tools that relate to this policy. However, this policy does not apply to personal data collected via offline resources and means of communication, except in those cases in which such personal data is combined with personal data collected online by Gruner AG. This guideline also does not apply to online resources of third parties to which links on the Gruner AG website refer; Gruner AG does not control the content or data protection practices of such offerings.

Gruner AG only collects personal data from you if you voluntarily provide it to us. We do not pass on personal data about you to third parties for their marketing purposes unless you expressly allow us to do so. Please read this privacy policy to learn more about how we collect, use, share and protect information online.

2. How does Gruner AG collect information?

Gruner AG collects personal data in two ways:

On the one hand, Gruner AG collects data that you, as a visitor and user of our website and offerings, actively and voluntarily disclose about yourself, i.e. you are free to decide whether or not to disclose the data. Of course, you can also visit our website without providing us with any personal data. However, in some cases, Gruner AG also anonymizes data that you have provided and retains it in aggregated, i.e. accumulated and merged form. Using this collected, anonymized data, Gruner AG compiles statistics on usage and visitor numbers that help us to improve our services.

On the other hand, information provided by you is also automatically collected whenever you interact with us via our websites and in the process of exchanging e-mails with us. These automated procedures used by us may include logging by web servers or IP addresses, cookies and web beacons.

Web beacons, cookies and other tracking techniques do not automatically collect any personal information about you. Only when you voluntarily provide information that personally identifies you, such as by registering or sending e-mails, can these automated processes be used to collect personal information about your use of the websites and/or interactive e-mails to make them more useful to you.

Some of the cookies used on our website remain stored on your personal device until you delete them. They enable us to recognize your web browser the next time you visit us. If you do not wish this, you can amend your browser settings so that you are informed when cookies are used or only allow them in individual cases. Please note that if cookies are deactivated, the functionality of the website may be limited.

Gruner AG does not use Google Analytics, all data is stored on a server in Switzerland.

Gruner AG uses the open source solution Piwik (Matomo) to obtain information and statistics on the use of our website. This program stores and analyses data about the flow and history of visitors to our homepage but the data is not made available to third parties. However, this data is determined anonymously; Gruner AG does not analyze the IP address of visitors.

3. Your possibilities for action with regard to personal data

You have several options when using our website. You may choose not to provide any personal information at all by not filling out any forms or data fields on our sites and not using any of the personalized services available.

However, you also have the option of using the services of our website and thus disclosing personal data to us. The Gruner AG website will ask you for personal data when using the following services:

3a) Newsletter

Gruner AG offers you a newsletter in which it informs you about current events and promotions. If you register for our newsletter, we ask for your e-mail address and your consent that you agree to receive the newsletter. Access to data collected by our newsletter is limited to a few authorized employees and no further data is collected apart from an evaluation of the number of newsletter orders.

3b) Electronic application process

You have the opportunity to apply to job openings electronically. As a user, you also disclose personal data that can only be viewed by a small number of authorized employees and can be deleted at any time upon request. However, this data will be automatically deleted at the latest after 3 months from the end of the application process.

3c) Personalised information via comments or a contact form

Your IP address is stored for personalised queries that you submit through the website via the contact form or when submitting a comment. This serves to protect the website operator: If your text violates the law, he wants to be able to trace your identity.

4. Your rights

Upon your request, you as a user will receive information at no cost about the personal data stored about you. Insofar as your request does not conflict with a legal data retention obligation, you have a right to have erroneous data corrected and your personal data blocked or deleted.

If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or your data protection claims have otherwise been violated in any way, you are welcome to contact us or lodge a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority.

5. Security

Gruner AG uses technical security precautions, guidelines and user-oriented instructions to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, improper use, disclosure, loss or destruction. To ensure the confidentiality of your personal data, Gruner AG uses standard firewalls and protection mechanisms based on passwords. However, it is your personal responsibility to ensure that the computer you use is adequately protected against malicious software such as trojans, computer viruses and worms. You are aware that without appropriate security measures (such as a securely configured web browser, up-to-date anti-virus software, personal firewall software, refraining from using software from dubious sources) there is a risk that data and passwords that you use to protect your data may fall into the hands of unauthorized third parties.

6. Use of data

Gruner AG, its groups and companies that provide services for us on our behalf will use any personal data that you voluntarily provide to us to fulfill your requests. This data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 letter f of the General Data Protection Regulation of the EU. Gruner AG retains control and responsibility for the use of such information.

Collected and stored information helps us to better understand what our visitors’ needs are and how we can improve our products and services. It also helps us to provide you with personalized information about services and promotions that may be of interest to you. The collected personal data is pseudonymized and automatically deleted after 6 months.

7. Disclosure and transmission of data

No personal data that you provide on our website will be sold or otherwise disclosed for direct marketing purposes without express notification and your explicit consent.

Gruner AG may, however, disclose data required to respond to reasonable requests from legitimate government agencies, if necessary, or required for operational reviews such as audits or legal proceedings, insofar as provided by law.

Gruner AG will disclose personal data about you to various external companies or agents who are entrusted with technical maintenance work or who work on our behalf and help us process business transactions, such as providing customer services, sending marketing information about our products, services and offers. Personal data is also made available to companies belonging to the Gruner Group. All these companies and agents are required to comply with our privacy policy and may use the data exclusively on behalf of and within the scope of the order of Gruner AG.

8. Links to other websites

Our website contains links to various external websites that may provide useful information to our visitors. This privacy policy does not apply to these sites and we recommend that you contact them directly regarding their privacy policies.

We may also share such information with third parties acting on our behalf.

11. Updating the privacy policy

Gruner AG may revise and update this online privacy policy. Changes to this privacy policy will be communicated immediately on this page. If you are notified of any changes to our privacy policy and you continue to use our sites, you agree that any information you subsequently provide may be processed in accordance with the revised Privacy Policy. This privacy policy is effective as of 25 May 2018.
